'Inseparable' elderly couple dies hours apart after 62 years of marriage
IT MAY SOUND like the plot of a certain well-known Hollywood film, but this is real life, and it’s beautiful.
An American married couple who spent over six decades by each others’ sides, doing everything together, died within hours of each other.
Don and Maxine Simpson met in a bowling alley in the town of Bakersfield, California, and married a couple of years later. They spent the next 62 years together, travelling the world and adopting two sons.

According to 23 ABC, two weeks ago Don fell at home and broke his hip. He was taken to hospital, but his health was quickly deteriorating.
At the same time, the cancer that Maxine had been battling for years threatened her life once more.
The family decided to move them back home, where they lived out their last days side-by-side – this picture shows the couple holding hands:

Maxine passed away first, with Don following four hours later, just after her body was taken from the room.
Their granddaughter, Melissa Sloan, told 23 ABC that it was fitting for the two to die together:
Nothing wrong, no. Just something in our eye.
